We hope we have covered the information you need on this page, but if not, feel free to give us a call and we will be happy to help answer your questions or concerns.
Massage therapy has many benefits, both physical and emotional. It soothes and relaxes our bodies and minds, aids in stress reduction, reduces anxiety, helps increase blood supply to tissues and organs, helps relieve muscle tension and helps speed recovery from overuse. Studies have shown that touch therapy is as important in our lives as, food, water and oxygen. In the absence of touch we fail to thrive.
How often can I get a massage?
The frequency of your massage depends on your goals for bodywork. For control of chronic pain or tension, you may wish to see your Therapist every week or two. If your goal is for general stress relief or relaxation, you may find you only need a session every three or four weeks. Some clients choose to come weekly for relaxation from their demanding lifestyles. Booking and prepaying for appointments in advance also provides preferred discounts.
What do I need to do to prepare for my massage therapy session?
Please honor your Therapist’s time and that of other clients by arriving on time for each session. (Please see Policies page.) It is best to be freshly bathed before your session to avoid having toxins from the environment enter your system through the manipulation of your skin. Ladies, please avoid shaving the day of your treatment as this can make your skin extra sensitive. If you would like a facial massage, please arrive with no makeup. It is recommended that you do not partake of alcohol 24 hours prior to your session.
What if I am overweight or embarrassed about my body?
Please rest assured that your Therapist stands in total acceptance of you as an individual. They have seen body types of all shapes, sizes, and ages. Don’t let body-image keep you from experiencing a healthful, pleasurable part of self-care.
Can I talk during my session?
The greatest benefits from massage are reaped by just relaxing and reflecting within yourself. Concentrate on your breathing and let your mind float free. Most Therapist’s want you to relax and let your massage transport you into the clouds. So feel free to settle into a quiet, relaxed state and enjoy your experience. If your Therapist needs some feedback, they may gently ask from time to time. If anything makes you uncomfortable at any time, you should speak up and let your Therapist know. This is your session and your Therapists wants it to be completely enjoyable to you.
Do I have to completely disrobe?
That is your choice to make; however, most clients do disrobe completely, other simply down to their undergarments. Your Therapist will make sure you are appropriately draped to protect your privacy and modesty. ONLY the area being treated will be uncovered.
Should I inform my Therapist of any allergies or ailments I may have?
Absolutely! Please notify your Therapist as soon as you can regarding these issues. If you are in need of special assistance let your Therapist know so they may accommodate your needs. Your session may need to be adjusted, changed or rescheduled depending on the condition you relate to your Therapist.
Will a massage hurt?
Generally massage is NOT supposed to hurt. However, there may be times when clients present with overly contracted muscles where they required a bit deeper work. It should not go past that ‘hurts so good’ feeling, however. If you experience a sharp pain during your session, notify your Therapist immediately as that can indicate an injury or inflammation and deep work should be avoided in these areas. If your muscles are just generally tight, a deep massage may leave you feeling slightly sore the next day. Since every client is different, it is imperative you keep your Therapist informed if the pressure is too much or becomes uncomfortable. Your Therapist wants your session to be beneficial as well as enjoyable to you.
What about Gratuity (tipping)?
This is a totally personal decision. If you feel you received an exceptional session, you may leave gratuity at your discretion. Any gratuity is very much appreciated, although we prefer your referring your family and friends to us.
What if I am late for an appointment?
Your sessions are book by time. If you arrive late for your appointment your session will be adjusted to end at the previously scheduled time. You will be expected to pay for the FULL session as your Therapist has held the total time open for you.
