Resveratrol: Miracle Antioxidant!!!
More and more these days, researchers are touting the many health benefits of resveratrol. Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant found in, among other things, red grapes. Past studies have revealed that it has anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and blood sugar-lowering properties. Recently, researchers have found that it may also provide cardiovascular benefits.
Every year, we hear more about this remarkable antioxidant. It was recently discovered that topical applications of resveratrol may help protect against skin cancer and when applied topically and taken internally, it is a powerful anti-aging supplement. That is why this very ingredient is found in the products I use in our Bella Radiance Facial Massage. Not only are they healthy for your skin, they smell wonderful and leave you with a youthful glow!
There are also signs that resveratrol may aid in the treatment of esophageal tumors and colon cancer. It even shows signs of preventing breast cancer tumors, by inhibiting the metabolites in estrogen from attacking cellular DNA. It may even destroy these metabolites, which encourage breast cancer growth.
The most exciting discovery is the use of resveratrol against cardiovascular disease. We’ve all heard about the benefits of drinking red wine to protect against heart disease, and it is believed that it is resveratrol in the red wine that provides these benefits. It also seems that resveratrol protects against and discourages the formation of blood clots.
Resveratrol has even shown to be beneficial in treating and preventing diabetes! It works very well in lowering abnormally high blood glucose levels, which is important to the health of diabetics.
To get the therapeutic amount of resveratrol in your diet, you may find supplements to be the easiest way. However, it is best to get antioxidants through food, because activators and other nutrients already present in food may boost the protective benefits of resveratrol. Foods that contain resveratrol include red grapes, peanuts, cocoa, cranberries, and blueberries. YUM! Finally something that is good for you that tastes good too!
As research continues, we may find even more uses for this previously unknown little helper.
